STRYKER AGUILAR

Excel Soccer Academy Director of Coaching

Coach Stryker Aguilar grew up in Phoenix and is a product of the Arizona youth soccer system. In his younger years, he played for well-known Phoenix teams, including Cisco Kickers, Paradise Valley Shamrocks, Santos FC 76 and Cisco Xcel.

 

Coach Stryker went on to play for Phoenix College and as a professional for the Arizona Saguaros in the USISL.

He started his coaching career as a head coach and trainer at Santos FC under Luis Dabo, where he stayed for five years before starting Excel Soccer Academy in 2012. Coach Stryker has worked with players of all ages and is known for his intense and exciting training sessions.

 

His three children have grown up with him at the soccer field and they have all played at ESA.

CORBETT HESS

Excel Soccer Academy Boys Technical Director

Coach Corbett Hess has coached all ages and many of his players have gone on to play competitively at the collegiate and professional levels. He started his coaching career working under and alongside Luis Dabo for nine years.

 

Coach Corbett then joined ESA with a focus on putting individual skills, creativity and character development at the forefront while building a team environment designed to succeed.

He has a Bachelor of Arts in psychology from Arizona State University and also earned a Master of Business Administration at the University of Phoenix.

BARB CHURA

Excel Soccer Academy Girls Technical Director

 

Coach Barb Chura is one of the most respected coaching names in Arizona with a wide range of experience at many different skill levels.

 

She started out playing soccer at a young age and went on to play at the University of Connecticut. Coach Barb was captain of the Huskies during their run to the Final Four in 1990.

 

She then transitioned to coaching, which took her to Texas Tech University, James Madison University and University of Notre Dame.

 

At the club level in soccer, Coach Barb has more than 15 years of experience with stops at Cisco, Southbank, Sereno, Ahwatukee and the Utah Royals DPL team. In that time, she has led her teams to five State Cups.

​Coach Barb is currently the head coach of the girls’ varsity soccer team at Xavier College Preparatory High School.

MANUEL DE LA ROSA

Excel Soccer Academy Farm Director

 

Coach Manny De La Rosa grew up in West Phoenix and has been playing soccer in Arizona since the age of five.

 

He was recruited out of high school to play soccer for St. Ambrose University in Iowa, but his desire to pursue a career in engineering led him to the University of Iowa where he earned his Bachelor’s degree.

 

Coach Manny’s experience ranges from training 6-18 year old boys and girls.

 

He has a daughter playing for ESA and he continues to play in a variety of recreational and competitive leagues throughout the Valley.

LINO CORRO

Excel Soccer Academy Coach

 

Growing up in Mexico City, Coach Lino Corro played competitive soccer at different levels before moving to the states.  

 

He played at North High School and Phoenix College before continuing his education at ASU West.

 

Coach Lino is currently the JV Coach at Carl Hayden High School and has two sons that play at ESA.  

MAX PASILLAS

Excel Soccer Academy 06 & 08 Boys Head Coach

Coach Max Pasillas grew up in Phoenix and began playing competitive soccer at the age of 11.

 

He played varsity soccer at Maryvale High School and then went on to play for South Mountain Community College.

 

Coach Max has been coaching along side Coach Stryker in team, small group and personal training settings for more than six years. He has two children who both played at ESA.

CARMEN ESNAL

Excel Soccer Academy Goalkeeper Coach

Coach Carmen Esnal grew up playing soccer right here in the Valley at Alhambra High School, South Mountain Community College and Grand Canyon University. 

When she finished as a player, she turned her sights to coaching. Coach Carmen not only helps ESA, she also coaches at Arizona Soccer Association. Phoenix College and Millennium High School.

Her philosophy about goalkeeping is to provide innovative training to assist goalkeepers of all ages and levels. Coach Carmen focuses on developing players through the four main components of goalkeeping; technical, tactical, physical and psychological. 

She has a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education with an emphasis in Physical Education from Grand Canyon University and she also earned a Master of Business Administration.

GREG MONTELONGO

Excel Soccer Academy 08 Girls & 09 Boys Head Coach 

Coach Greg Montelongo grew up in Phoenix and began playing soccer at the age of six. He played for the Cisco Kickers, Cisco Excel and was a member of the well-known Santos 76 team. 

Not only did he win multiple state championships as a player, Coach Greg also traveled to Brazil and played in the inaugural Pele tournament in Rio De Janeiro. 

He has been developing players and coaching at ESA for seven years. Both of Coach Greg's children also play at the club. 

ROD CHISLEY

Excel Soccer Academy 06 Girls Head Coach

Coach Rod Chisley grew up in Glendale, AZ and began playing at the age of seven. He played club soccer for well-known teams PVSC Shamrocks and Cisco Excel.

Coach Rod went on to play varsity soccer and basketball at Independence High School.  

He then pursued basketball in college at South Mountain Community College before moving on to play at Hannibal Lagrange College in Missouri. 

Coach Rod has been coaching at ESA for four years and has two children that currently play at the club. 

RON SHERRON

Excel Soccer Academy Farm Coach

Coach Ron Sherron works with the 2011 and 2012 teams in the Farm program.

 

He grew up playing multiple sports competitively in the north Phoenix area. Coach Ron played club soccer with the Paradise Valley Shamrocks and the Sereno Golden Eagles.  

 

He was also a four-sport athlete at North Canyon High School in north Phoenix. Coach Ron went on to play college football on scholarship.

 

Since then he has mentored and coached several Valley high school athletes in soccer to obtain college scholarships.  

 

Coach Ron currently has a son playing with the ESA Farm Program.

CHRISTEN DAVALOS

Excel Soccer Academy 09 & 10 Girls Head Coach

Coach Christen Davalos is an Arizona native. Growing up in the West Valley, she played competitive soccer beginning at the age of seven. 

Coach Christen attended Westview High School where she played for the girls varsity team. 

 

Completing her Bachelor of Arts in Education at Arizona State University, Coach Christen now teaches at Tolleson High School and coaches girls varsity soccer at Westview High School. She has four children and two play at ESA.

JOSEPH BRODERICK

Excel Soccer Academy 10 Boys Head Coach

Coach Joseph Broderick grew up in Phoenix. He went to St. Mary’s High School and continued his education at Arizona State University where he is part of the elite inaugural graduating class of WP Carey School of Business.

 

Coach Joseph has been coaching for more than half his life in a variety of sports from soccer, basketball and baseball. He has a passion for coaching and mentoring kids who may not have had the same opportunities that life offered him.  Coach Joseph has worked with athletes that have played in the NBA and professionally overseas. 

 

In addition to coaching, he has a daughter and son playing at ESA.
